News Desk:
The Women Chapter International (WCI) has started a new project ‘Creative Advocacy Work in Georgia’ in Georgia. In Georgia, WCI will work with the Europe Foundation as a partner of Coompanion Östergötland with the funding from Swedish Institute (SI).
For years, Georgian democracy has been facing increasing challenges, from human rights abuses to surveillance concerns. The civil society actors have often suffered from government abuse and the gradually shrinking operational spaces and require support to withstand the pressure and to advocate for good governance in Georgia.
To this end, the project aims to improve the capacity of civil society and the media, in digital safety and advocacy tools. Through a series of need-based capacity-building activities, they will be better equipped to protect themselves and their work and advocate for improved governance and human rights protection in Georgia.
As the main partner, WCI will provide Georgian key actors from civil society with digital security and advocacy training. Ashraful Haque and Monjun Nahar will conduct six sessions each (in person and digitally).
This is the first project after establishing the WCI as an organisation.
